How to use Jelly Wax

It’s as simple as 1-2-3. Here’s our complete guide to smooth results, from prep to aftercare.

Step 1 Melt In just 15–20 minutes, Jelly Wax is ready to use.
Step 2 Wax on Jelly Wax sets in 10–60 seconds depending on formula, giving you plenty of time to apply.
Step 3 Hair off Enjoy hair-free skin for weeks instead of days.
Before you wax

24 hours before

Is your hair ¼"-½" long? (a grain of rice)If not, wait or trim to size. This is key for grip and less pain.
Exfoliate 24-48 hours before waxingThis removes dead skin and helps prevent ingrowns.
First time waxing?Start with small, easy-to-reach areas, not intimates. Practice your technique with smaller strips before spreading large ones. Once you’re comfortable, you’ll be ready to do your own Brazilian.
Technique

Application technique

Load your applicator
  • Scoop a dollop of melted wax. The more you scoop, the bigger your strip.
  • Twirl the stick to form a round “bulb”, like a little wax lollipop.
Anchor the wax
  • Gently press the wax onto the skin where you want to start.
  • Use firm pressure to press the bulk of the dollop down. This anchors your strip.
Spread with firm, even pressure
  • Hold the stick at a 45° angle, like a butter knife.
  • Spread in the direction of hair growth. Even pressure grips the hair from the root so it doesn’t break.
Strip thickness
  • Aim for 2–3mm thick, like a credit card. Thicker hair: the thick end. Thin hair: heavy pressure, spread thinner.
  • Too thin may rip or miss hairs. Too thick dries slowly and wastes wax.
Pull parallel to your skin
  • This gets all the hair out with the least breakage and pain.

How to use your Jelly Wax kit

Now that you have the basics down, you’re set up for an amazing wax.

Step 1: Prep your warmer

Put your Jelly Pot inside the metal pot, then place it in your Jelly Wax Warmer.
Pour in an entire bag of Jelly Wax.

Save any unused wax in your pot for later. Store it with the lid on to protect it from dust.

Step 2: Melt for 15–20 minutes

Put the lid on and heat on HI for 10 minutes.
Lower to MED for 5 minutes. With the Jelly Pot inside, allow a few extra minutes.

Your warmer is auto-heat regulated, so it’s meant to turn on and off. While you wait, move on to step 3.

How to know your wax is ready
Too hotRunny like water.
Too coldStiff and stringy.
Just rightDrips slowly like warm honey and holds a bulb on your stick for a few seconds.

Step 3: Prep your skin

Gently wipe with a warm cloth, then pat fully dry.
If you tend to sweat, lightly dust with talc-free powder or corn starch.
Jelly Wax works best on clean, dry skin.

Step 4: Smooth it flat, pull it back

Apply in the direction of hair growth, then let it cool for 10–60 seconds depending on your formula. Room temperature can affect setting time.
It’s ready to pull when it’s warm to the touch but not tacky. Hold skin taut and pull in the opposite direction, parallel to the skin.
No double-dipping: discard your applicator after each dip if you plan to store leftover wax.
Aftercare

Post-wax care

Apply Cooling Jelly or aloe vera right after.
Avoid heat, sweat and sun for 24–48 hours.
Start exfoliating on day 3, and moisturize daily to help repair and prevent ingrown hairs.
Next time

When do you wax again?

Let hair grow to ¼" before your next wax. Some regrowth early on is normal after your first wax.
By your third wax, you can enjoy slower regrowth, less pain, thinner hair and softer stubble.
Wax at least once a month for the first few months to get all the benefits.

You just finished your first at-home wax
