You might think it sounds odd, but the confidence didn't come from removing my body hair—it came from growing it out. I’m Hannah, founder of Jelly Wax, and this is the story behind our brand.
When I started Jelly Wax in 2019, my goal was simple: to offer a solution for those fed up with the daily pain of shaving and the relentless pursuit of smooth, spotless skin. As someone with sensitive skin, I was no stranger to the frustrations of shaving bumps, razor burn, and itchy stubble. Shaving just wasn’t cutting it for me anymore. I loved the results of waxing but found that many waxes irritated my skin—or worse, sometimes even took it off. But I didn’t give up. I kept trying, testing, and learning until I decided it was time to take matters into my own hands. That’s when Jelly Wax was born.
What began as a mission to simplify beauty routines quickly evolved into something much deeper. I found myself connecting with customers who faced unique challenges, especially those struggling with PCOS (Polycystic Ovary Syndrome). I learned about the rapid hair regrowth they experienced and the limitations of traditional hair removal methods. For many with PCOS, shaving was a quick fix, but the hair often grew back within hours. Laser treatments, while promising, were not always an option due to hair color, skin type, or cost—and they rarely provided a permanent solution.
This realization marked a turning point for Jelly Wax. Our product became more than just a hair removal solution; it became a symbol of empowerment, accessibility, and community support for those who have often been overlooked by the beauty industry. Designed for sensitive skin, Jelly Wax isn’t just about removing hair; it's about offering a lifestyle that brings simplicity, ease, and real solutions into the lives of our customers.
When I first started waxing, it was because I hated shaving every day—my hair grew so fast, and the bumps and itchy regrowth drove me insane. Waxing gave me the smooth results I craved, so much so that I was willing to endure the 1-2 weeks of hair growth before each session. But something unexpected happened along the way: I began to feel okay with my body hair. At first, waxing was just an "excuse" for me to grow my hair out without feeling self-conscious. I’d reassure myself, "It's okay, you're going to wax it off soon, so it doesn't matter what other people think." But the more I waxed, the more I found myself letting my hair grow out longer and spacing out my waxing sessions. By last summer, I realized just how much I had come to love my body hair.
This personal journey inspired me to start sharing my experiences with body hair on TikTok. It turns out, I'm not the only one who feels this way. Embracing body hair has become my most important mission, and I’m so glad to be part of a community that values comfort and confidence in our own skin.
